Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was found dead at her Mumbai home at the age of 25. Media reports suggest that the actress may have committed suicide.

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan has been found dead at her home in Mumbai, police said Tuesday.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the body of the 25-year-old actress was found in her apartment in Mumbai's Juhu neighborhood late Monday.

A police source said the death was not being treated as suspicious as it appeared to be suicide although no suicide note was found, according to Reuters.

Khan, whose real name was Nafisa Khan, was born in New York and grew up in London before moving to Mumbai. She studied acting at the Lee Strasberg's Institute in New York City.

Khan began her career in Mumbai's film industry in the 2007 Hindi film "Nishabd," in which she portrayed a teenager in love with her best friend's father, played by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

In her brief career she performed with other top Bollywood stars, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Khan last appeared in the 2010 comedy "Housefull," in which she played a supporting role.

"Never ever seen a debutant actress with more spunk and more spirit than Jiah when i was directing her in Nishabd," filmmaker Varma wrote on Twitter.

"I don't know the reason what led to this but jiah was very depressed about her career and scared for her future," he said in another tweet, adding that the actress had not worked for the past three years.

Fellow actress Dia Mirza tweeted: "RIP Nafisa (Jiah) Khan. You were too young and beautiful."

Hi folks, I come from the city of Mumbai and must admit that this is unfortunate however, to be honest bollywood has lotta struggling beauties and its incredibly tough to get a film. Rules of this industry are very different primarily, Networking and Socializing is must (unless one is a vry Sr. Actor/ Actress). Jiah Khan didnt have quality work for past 3 years and at 25 that must have been a serious setback. Sometimes these BIG people do too much to maintain the extravaganza which comes haunting during the lean phase of career. Sad :(

Wow, so sad, such an exceptional beauty with a bright future. Sometimes careers can stall but usually it's temporary.

I wonder why she was in Mumbai and not Hollywood trying to get into mainstream films. She was an anomaly, so perhaps because the industry is trying to be more inclusive, she would have found quite a bit of work. She definitely could have been in some beauty and skincare commercials while getting small parts in films & maybe even theatre.

You have to constantly hone your craft, participate in classes and workshops, hustle and pound that pavement. Get experience and exposure in all sorts of projects no matter how small.

She was born in NY and raised in London, so she wasn't the typical "Bollywood" actress. Such a shame, may she rest in peace and her family be comforted.
